Paul Adams

My name is Paul Adams. I am, first and foremost, a teacher. I have spent most of my career teaching in Primary Schools. I have been an ICT co-ordinator in two different schools, leading Buckingham Primary School into achieving the ICT Mark on two occasions.

I featured in Becta’s ‘Learning Platforms in Action’ and the National Strategy ‘Learning and Teaching using ICT’ training materials.

I completed an MSc in Computing in 2011, with my efforts graded as ‘Distinction’ and receiving a prize from Oxford Brookes University for my achievements.   As part of my final dissertation, I created Planet: Number, on online resource for developing pupils’ skills in mathematics.  Planet: Number has been successfully used by hundreds of pupils since its creation.

In December 2013, I became a Google Certified Teacher following attendance at the Google Teaching Academy in London.

I was Headteacher at Great Horwood Combined School between 2011 and 2014, leading the school to its first ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted in over ten years.

I currently teach at Furze Down School in Buckinghamshire.

Feedback from recent training:

“It is just what teachers need as we enter the world of computing!”

“I would have loved a whole day session instead of just the three hours!”

“Speed and manner of introduction of new skills and ideas was great.”

“This training was very motivating, and tailored to the learners’ needs and requirements.  I can’t wait to get going with my year 5s!”

    Hi Paul,
Ian Usher says (or rather tweets) that you’ve done some Scratch work with primary pupils – if this is online, I wonder if my 1st year teacher training students could look at it as part of a lecture to be filmed by Teachers’ TV?
    Cheers,
    Miles.

    Hi Paul,
Discovered your site looking in my resarch for setting up Moodle in the 4 primary schools that I look after.
I like the idea of using Moodle as the school website and theming it to the school.
Can you say what base themes you used for BPS and The Royal Latin School as they look great.
I am currently working on themes using Paul James Gradson’s Book on Moodle Theme Design as well looking for inspiration from other designers.

    Thanks
    Mark
